Two main forms of distribution network are used, coaxial cable and ethernet (sometimes called structured cabling). Input signals are collected from the aerial, dish or network and converted to the desired output signals either as modulated carriers on coax or as Internet Protocol encapsulated services or IPTV. The choice of technique largely depends on the cost of converting the Television or screens and the cabling systems. In general smaller hotels use Coax wheras larger or new buildings are converting to using network cabling. Irrespective of what technique is used there exists the oppertunity to add new local services such as the Hotel information channels and local information.
